January 2009 in the South of France

So after our wonderful stay in the Engadine Valley we went down to the South of France two weeks later. It became a fixed date in the last three years. Again we were really lucky with the weather except one day when it was raining a little.
Great view to the Mediterranean mountains that you can only see in wintertime.
On Saturday we went to Cannes to see what was going on at the MIDEM. Next day we went to Antibes visiting the renovated Picasso museum and to the Fernand Leger museum which is located next to the village of Biot where we stay and we also did a little walking with Balou.
Old bears for sale at the antique market.
On Monday we went to Nice to the antique market and had lunch there. Back home we put on the open fire place.

On Tuesday we met my dear friend Kathy in Monaco and had a really nice lunch at the Café de Paris right next to the Casino. Afterwards we drove Kathy home and visited her lovely house that was build in 1925 from her uncle.

Start of the Rallye Monte Carlo.

Wednesday morning we drove to Menton. The weather was lovely and we walked through the old part of Menton and visited the old cemetery. From Menton we drove to Cap Ferrat to have a look at the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. Beautiful gardens – I can really recommend going there.

Today is our last day before we leave tomorrow. So we had a good lunch in Antibes. Bought some things at the wonderful market. The afternoon we spent at the pool reading before we had a last walk to Biot for a drink.

Last Day

So today is my last day. Claudia has already left this morning and she had a long trip back home. The weather here was wonderful and we actually wanted to go skiing but little Beppi preferred to take out his sleigh.View to the lake of Silvaplana towards Sils Maria and MalojaBeppi and Auntie Barbara

I must admit it was really quite exhausting - good workout to walk up and down the hill for about 30 times.

Happy New Year

Hi Folks! So we wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year. Let’s hope that it’s getting better than predicted by the experts and politicians.

Fex Valley

Nietzsche house in Sils Maria. He wrote his famous book "Also sprach Zarathustra" here.
In the afternoon of New Years eve we went to the amazing village of Solgio. Afterwards we took a little walk on the lake of Silvaplana. We had a very cozy and quiet new years eve with a fantastic cheese fondue.

It started to snow in the late afternoon and didn´t stop till this morning. Then the sun came out and there wasn´t a cloud in the sky. So we took a long walk to the Fex Valley that is next to the beautiful village of Sils Maria.
Some impressions of Solgio, it is close to the Italian border in Chiavenna

People still use this to wash their clothes

Goats on our way to Solgio. They didn´t move so I had to get out of the car to chase them away.

So that is it for today. I will post some more pictures in the next few days.

Helicopter Flight

Here are some impressions of Claudia’s helicopter ride. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t that sunny this day.

Happy Holidays

Hi folks, so here I am back again in Surlej a little village in the Upper Engadine Valley. I arrived on the 20 th of December. We have loads of snow here and the weather is just perfect.

Wonderful sunsets in the evening
The whole family spent christmas together. My little nephew Beppi (Sebastian) was very excited and he got a lot of presents.

A few days later my friend Claudia arrived. Unfortunately I had a bad cold but after two days it got better and I have recovered.

We took a long walk to the Rosegg valley on her first day. We saw some game and we were feeding the little birds.
Yesterday Claudia took a helicopter ride for about half an hour around the whole valley. She said it was amazing.

We will post some more pictures of Claudia that she made from the helicopter in the next few days.

Till then, we wish you all a very happy NEW YEAR !

Hiking in October 2008

Last Sunday we had the most wonderful weather in Bavaria so we decided to go hiking.
We drove into the mountains. First we had a great breakfast in a hotel nearby.
Then my friend Ingrid and I started our hiking tour.

We hiked up nearly 900 meters. It took us about two and a half hours. It was quite exhausting.

At the top we had agreat view and had a little rest.

Walking down took us over two hours again.

When we arrived down again in Hinterriss we had a drink and watched the deers that were next to the place.

It was a perfect Sunday in October.

Back Home

So finally I am back home again. The last few days in France were really nice and sunny. On my last day my auntie Barbara arrived in the morning so we could spent at least a few hours together.

Auntie Barbara at the Piazza in BiotWe went in to the village and had some coffee. The cute waiter was there again. You can see him in the back to the left.
Felt a bit sad that I had to leave. Balou was sad too.

This is little Pixú the caretakers dog.

The caretakers house which is really old about 250 years. It used to be the old bergerie.

Part of the garden of the Bastide.

So that was it folks. I am back in Munich. It is really cold and raining a lot.
